I originally saw the live-action drama, and I believe the drama adaptation was always part of the deal and the manga only created as 'source material' . It's been a long time since I saw the drama, but I remember I enjoyed it a lot more than the manga, which indeed suffers from crude artwork and fanservice (which kinda fails due to said crude artwork). <br /><br />But yeah, I was also surprised upon re-reading the manga that the stories were... just there, barely making an impression. I did recall scenes partially as I went through the books, but I honestly remembered next to nothing about the core plots.
